    Our Privacy Policy

    Visitors to www.awsfoundation.org are considered AWS Foundation site users. The activities and information provided by site users who apply for grants, subscribe to any of our electronic information services such as our eNewsletter, or otherwise communicate with us through our website may be collected for use. This is done in order to process grant applications, provide information electronically, and construct a secure and personalized Internet resource.

    Here are different types of information that we collect:

    Personal Information

    This is information that would allow us to identify or contact site users. For example, names, organizations, addresses, and email addresses that are provided is personal information.

    We may collect personal information when site users:
    • apply for grants or submit grant reports;
    • sign up as subscribers to electronic information services such as our eNewsletter;
    • send messages, forms, or other information to us via email or our website.

    When applying for a grant, personal information such as a name and title of a contact person, organization name, address, telephone number, fax number, email address, and a brief statement outlining the organization’s need for support is collected.

    When signing up to receive an electronic newsletter, we require a name and email address.

    Non-personally Identifiable Information

    This refers to anonymous information about site users that does not include names or contact information. Examples of such combined information would be IP addresses, browser types, and access times. We may use this information to improve our website and show usage and traffic patterns.

    Our use of personal information

    We use site users’ personal information to process grant applications, to provide electronic eNewsletters, and to contact site users. Site users may opt out of receiving electronic eNewsletters and event information from us at any time by using the ‘unsubscribe’ feature located at the bottom of these emails.

Please be aware that by choosing to withhold personal information, site users can not apply for grants, submit grant reports, and sign up as subscribers to receive eNewsletters or any other activity that requires personal information to complete the activity, process or function.

    We have security measures to protect site users’ information from loss, misuse, and alteration and use industry-standard practices, such as encrypted storage and password protection systems, to safeguard the confidentiality of users’ personal information.

    Privacy protection for children

    In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, we shall not knowingly permit persons under the age of 13 to provide personal information to us through our website or otherwise. If we later learn that any site user is under the age of 13, we shall take appropriate steps to remove that site user’s information from our database and restrict future access.

    Notification of changes

    Should we decide to use site users’ personal information in a manner different from what is stated, we will notify site users via email. Site users may choose whether or not we may use their information in a new manner. In addition, if we make any material changes in our privacy practices, we will post those changes here on our website to notify site users.
