Joy in Motion: Fostering Happiness and Independence
The freedom and fun of riding bikes, especially when we were kids, is something that many of us take for granted. However, it is often out of reach for people with disabilities. Thats what the iCan Bike program is working to change.
Thanks to this unique program, people with disabilities can experience the sheer joy of bike riding. The iCan Bike program helps participants ages eight and up learn to ride a two-wheeled bike while trained volunteers help by acting as spotters. The program cultivates independence and brings the simple pleasure of bike riding to those who may otherwise never experience it.
Since the programs launch in 1999, it has helped nearly 20,000 children and adults with disabilities across the country experience the excitement of independent bike riding. Today, more individuals are able to enjoy the fun and freedom of riding bikes, thanks to the iCan Bike program.
